Here is the first of our Topics on Genealogy series:
Sonja Jensen, Assistant Director of the Marin Family History Center, will introduce Family Search.org, a website which offers free online access to its resources and services. Please come and learn about this valuable resource for finding information about your ancestors. Although this is not required, attendees may want to create a free account at familysearch.org before coming to class, to get familiar with it. Come with your questions!
The Marin Family History Center is staffed by volunteer genealogists from the Marin County Genealogical Society as well as volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is located at 220 North San Pedro Road, San Rafael
Family History Centers are branches of FamilySearch and the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, the largest genealogy organization in the world. Their goal is to provide resources to assist you in the research and study of your family history by:
- Giving personal one-on-one assistance to patrons at no charge
- Providing access to genealogical records through many subscription websites as well as a microfilm loan program
- Offering free how-to classes presented by members of the Marin Genealogical Society.
