Ready Player One Escape Room
Saturday, April 7 @ 11am, 1pm & 2:30pm
Calling all gunters! Do you have what it takes to solve riddles and overcome challenges to find Anorak’s Easter Egg? Will you step up and save the Oasis from the slimy corporate Sixers? Join us for a very special Ready Player One themed Escape Room!
This program is for kids and teens in grades 5+ and adults. Participants may sign-up for 1 of the 3 sessions offered: 11am, 1pm or 2:30pm. Space is limited! Sign-up at the Children’s Reference Desk, or by calling us at (415) 485-3322.
All About Guide Dogs
Wednesday, April 11 @ 1:30pm
Meet Jessie the guide dog and his human Larriece Stewart. In this session you will learn:
- What is a guide dog? What do they do?
- How is a guide dog trained to do the job?
- What to do—and not to do—when you see a working guide dog.
- What do guide dogs do when not working?
- Meet and greet with Jessie. (Please, no treats for Jessie.)
This program is for families with kids of all ages! No registration necessary.
Sharpie Rainbow Tiles
Friday, April 13 @ 3:30pm
Come make beautiful rainbow tile art at the Library! We’ll use sharpies and rubbing alcohol to create a cool tie-dye or marbled effect. All materials will be provided!

Paleotechnology Workshop with Tamara Wilder
Saturday, April 14th, 11-3:30
It is often difficult to visualize and comprehend how our ancestors lived. Hands-on participation in the creation of items using ancient technologies brings the whole topic to life and gives the participants a base upon which to build an understanding of where we come from. Come and learn string, bead, and rope making. Play catch, rope and dice games! Gain insights into just how much creativity and intelligence was required to survive in ancient times!
For children ages 6+ accompanied by a caregiver. Space is limited; call us at (415)485-3322 to register. This program will include a break for lunch. Please bring your own lunch!

Math Club provides students in 3rd-7th grades the opportunity to practice math skills in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere. Students will work on level-appropriate assigned work to strengthen their foundation and learn useful tricks. Space is limited. Read to a Dog
Saturdays, April 14, and May 12, 11am – 12pm
Readers aged 5 and older are invited to book an appointment to read to a dog at the San Rafael Public Library! Space is limited, so please make your appointment at the Children’s Reference Desk, email us at email@example.com, or call us at 415-485-3322.
Dogs are ideal reading partners, providing comfort and unconditional acceptance that can allow children to focus better and read with greater confidence. The Marin Humane Society’s SHARE a Book program is designed to help children improve their literacy skills in a comforting and fun environment.
Monday January 22 – Thursday May 24
*Appointments will be available weekdays after school and weekends. Call the Children’s Desk at 415-485-3322 for specific dates and times, and to make an appointment.
Reading Buddies pairs adult and teen volunteers with elementary school aged youth (grades 1-3) for 20 minute appointments. During the appointment, the child will practice reading with their Reading Buddy one-on-one, and receive help and guidance with difficult words, comprehension, and other reading skills.
