Between the Pages Middle School Book Club @ The Davidson Middle School Library

Thursday, May 30, 1:20-2:20pm at the Davidson Middle School Library

Check it out! The San Rafael Public Library and Davidson Middle School are offering a new book club just for middle school aged youth. Join us to read and talk about great YA books. Refreshments will be served.

Our May book is Small as an Elephant by Jennifer Richard Jacobson. This meeting of the club is open to Davidson Middle School students. Registration is required. Davidson students can register and check out a copy of the book at the San Rafael Public Library Children's Desk (don't forget your library card).

Middle School Lounge @ San Rafael Public Library

Join us for a fun series of creative programs for middle school aged youth (entering grades 6-8). Registration is required for these programs. Please register at the Children's Reference Desk in person, or by calling us at 485-3322. These programs will take place in the meeting room.

Chocolate Party: Friday, June 21, 3-4pm
Enjoy a delicious chocolate tasting, and then test your knowledge of all things chocolate in our trivia challenge.

Hula Hoop Decorating: Friday, July 12, 3-4pm
Hula hooping is a fun way to exercise and express your creativity. You can personalize your hoop, and challenge yourself to learn new hooping tricks. We will provide homemade hula hoops for participants to keep and decorate with colorful tape. We’ll also check out some basic hooping and trick videos.

Beginning Jewelry Making: Friday, July 19, 2:30-3:30pm
Learn to make waxed cotton cord bracelets with jewelry artist Kat David from Dragonfly Designs. Each participant will create a unique bracelet to keep or to give as a gift.

Soft Circuit Keychains: Friday, August 2, 3:30-4:30pm
In this maker project led by Sara Bolduc from the San Rafael Intel Computer Clubhouse, we’ll be making light up keychains using soft circuits. Participants will learn about wiring and circuitry, and create a squishy keychain to take home.

Middle School Advisory Board @ The San Rafael Public Library

Join our new Middle School Advisory Board for youth in grades 6-8 and help make your library a great place for young adults! When you participate in the MSAB, you will:

  • See your friends, and make new ones.
  • Eat delicious food.
  • Have a say in what books the library buys, what activities we do, and what our middle school space looks like.
  • Be creative and crafty.
  • See behind-the-scenes at the library.
  • Earn community service hours.
  • Have an activity that looks great on applications.
  • Be a part of something bigger!
