We are celebrating 130 years of public library service here in beautiful San Rafael! In June of 1887 the Women’s Christian Temperance Union established a coffee and reading room in the town of San Rafael. The Marin Journal of June 2, 1887, announced, “The Coffee Room and Free Library is now open.” We are proud to continue the tradition of public library service to our neighbors today!
Join us for a family-friendly event on Saturday, June 3rd to celebrate this special anniversary!
Looking for a great place to take Dad on Father’s Day? How about the San Rafael Library to hear some great jazz by Dave Rocha Trio!
Join us on the library lawn under the big tree to hear selections from Dave’s trio .
The concert will take place out on the patio on the 5th Ave. side of the building.
The trio features:
Dave Rocha on trumpet and flugelhorn
Randy Vincent on electric guitar
Daniel Fabricant on bass.
Dave’s trio will be performing some notable compositions by such musical greats as Bud Powell, Chick Corea, Benny Golson, Kenny Wheeler and Joe Sample, just to name a few.
Make it a point to come out and listen to “trio” jazz at its best.
Be there or be square !!
Dave Rocha has been performing with his jazz group for more than 20 years. He has played in a number of major cities, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.
His band plays an eclectic mix of jazz standards (by Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, etc.) “pop” tunes (Cole Porter, Gershwin, and Jobim) and original compositions. This covers a wide variety of styles from up-tempo bebop, “modal” tunes, swing and blues, to Latin jazz, ballads and jazz waltz.
