Drawing from Nature

Master storyteller Ane Carla Rovetta is also an illustrator! Come hear her weave a magical tale about the natural world around us. Then, watch her bring the animal to life as she teaches the audience how to draw. We will use brilliant chalks to create our drawings.

Ane Carla Rovetta is a naturalist who has been teaching science and leading natural history excursions throughout the West since 1974. Trained as a vertebrate zoologist, she realized that art and storytelling add enchantment to the scientific process.

Try it Truck

Come visit the Bay Area Discovery Museum’s Try It Truck, a mobile engineering wonder! The Try It Truck is custom outfitted to include a high tech tools, such as a laser cutter and 3D printer, low tech tools, such as hammers and sandpaper, and lots of craft supplies, such as pipe cleaners and popsicle sticks. Children and their caregivers can drop-in and explore a variety of different maker stations.

This drop-in event is for children aged 5-10 and their caregivers. No registration required!

Wildlife Ambassadors

Come to the library and meet three of WildCare’s rescued non-releasable wild animals during this unforgettable presentation!

By sharing their rescue stories, these animals act as ambassadors for their species in order to increase awareness of their plight in the wild.

Possible wildlife visitors include a Northern Spotted Owl, Virginia Opossum, squirrel, California Desert Tortoise, Gopher Snake, Rosy Boa, California King Snake, American Kestrel, Red-tailed Hawk and Western Screech Owl!

Jelly Jam Time Presents: To the Farallons and Back Again 

Delight in a fairy tale puppet show featuring a scrolling back-drop set beneath the waves at the Farallon Islands. Sing sea shanties, mermaid melodies and create sound-scapes for the hand-printed paper world with performer and puppet artist Risa Lenore.

Ideal for children ages two to eight years old, but children of all ages accompanied by a caregiver are welcome. Free! No registration required.
