You Can Love Your Body

Posted by bonnie on

mindfulbiology

This presentation by Will Meecham, MD, will consist of:

  • A highly creative, informative and factual presentation about the body
  • An experiential exercise applying the I CAN method to a bodily concern
  • An opportunity to share experiences and insights and learn from others

Learn to love your body with the “I CAN” system, an innovative and highly accessible approach that combines mindfulness, compassion, and basic biology to help us move beyond the judgments, fears and resentments we often hold toward our bodies.  This method arises from four roots:

  • Interest: Explore your body with mindfulness & basic facts about its biology.
  • Compassion: Understand how to forgive & accept your body.
  • Appreciation: Develop a sense of gratitude & admiration for your body.
  • Nurturing: Do your best to support your body & promote its well-being.

meechamSevere neck problems forced Will Meecham, MD, to leave his surgical practice at age 41. As a result, two things happened: He suffered a shattering identity crisis and he began experiencing transcendent visions that changed his life. After years of meditation and study, he created MindfulBiology.org and the I CAN approach to loving the human body. He is currently co-writing a book with Larry Berkelhammer, PhD, entitled, Loving Self Care: Coming Home to Your Body.
