Writing and the Senses Workshop with Susanne West

Posted by bonnie on

Writing and the Senses

We will work with writing prompts and exercises to engage your senses, which can enliven and enrich any type of writing, including journaling, poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and more.

We become attuned to the present moment when we focus on sensory awareness. Writing from presence and including the senses brings new life to your writing and can greatly increase the richness of the writing process.

Susanne West is a writer and professor of psychology. She was on the faculty of John F. Kennedy University for 30 years and received the Harry L. Morrison Distinguished Teaching Award at JFKU. Susanne is the author of Soul Care for Caregivers. Her first poetry collection, Subterranean Light, will be released in 2020.

Each attendee will be able to take home 4 gifts they have made with a master gardener that day.

Anne-Marie Walker, a Master Gardener since 2005, served as MMG President in 2010. Certified by the University of California as a Trainer for both Edible and Sustainable Landscapes, she co-chaired Farm Day for four years introducing school children to a new vegetable each year. A fourth generation San Franciscan, she first learned about farming on her family’s Gravenstein apple and sheep ranch in Cloverdale. She holds a BS from Georgetown University and an MBA from University of San Francisco. She helped found a UC program, Dig it, Grow it, Eat it taught in both school and community gardens.
