We will host an Art Fete at Friends Books on Black Friday, November 29. All coffee table art books will be sale priced. Weather permitting, we’ll display some smaller art books outside in our sunny patio.
On Saturday Nov 30, all small business books will be discounted.

This presentation will cover the basics about citrus trees: how to select, site, plant and care for young trees (under 3 years in the ground). Joe will also address questions regarding the citrus varieties best for Marin County and the ones that are frost tolerant. Also, which varieties lend themselves to containers and espaliers.
Joe Jennings is a Marin Master Gardener who grows vegetables year-round in his home garden. He graduated from Whitman College and earned an MBA from the University of Washington.
All San Rafael Public Library programs are canceled through the end of March. Library patrons are advised to follow the recommendations issued by the Department of Public Health regarding social gatherings.

The purpose of drag queen storytime is to present children with positive LGBTQ role models and to allow children to express themselves outside the constraints of gender. This program both builds empathy in all children, and provides positive representation for children who are gender non-conforming.

The Rare and Special Book Sale will be held October 18th and 19th at the First Presbyterian Church, in Canoles Hall located at Mission and E Streets.
This annual sale is a favorite of bibliophiles and collectors, artists, designers and those who create collage or book arts projects using ephemera.
There will be a preview for members of Friends of the San Rafael Libraries from 12:00 to 1:00 on Friday, October 18. You may renew your membership or join online or at the door on the day of the sale.
The sale will be open to the public on Friday, from 1:00-5:00pm, following the member preview,
Hours on Saturday, October 19, will be from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Books will be set out on tables in an enormous community room adjoining a sunny patio. Books date from the 1800’s to 1960. Material offered will cover all genres from vintage children’s books, to cooking, poetry, fiction, history, natural history, etc. Two large collections of single artist art books are included, plus classical CDs, vintage movies on DVD, old magazines, art show catalogs and unique paper ephemera. All books have been donated and researched.

This is a sale beloved by bibliophiles, artists, altered book creators, designers and anyone who loves old books. The location is the Program Room at the downtown library at 1100 E Street at Fifth Avenue. We’ll offer a lively range of titles: western history, poetry, vintage cookbooks, large format art books, fiction, science, sets of classics, paper ephemera, classical music CDs and much more.
Member Preview will be on Friday, March 6 from 11:30am to 12:30pm. You may renew your membership or join online or at the door on the day of the sale.
Following the Member Preview, the sale will be open to the public from 12:30pm to 3:30pm.
Hours on Saturday, March 7 will be from 10:00am – 3:30pm, half-price sale will begin at 2:00pm.
