Virtual Film Screening and Panel Discussion: Little White Lie
Register in advance for this Zoom program.
Join us for a screening of the documentary film Little White Lie, followed by a thoughtful panel discussion by community leaders, artists, and thinkers who are impacted by colorism.
This event is a tie-in to “Book to Action,” a community-wide program from the California Center for the Book to Read/Discuss/Act during the months of March-June. The programming is centered around the Book The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. We will be hosting two book discussions and a number of online programs around the issues this book brings up: race identity, transgender identity, colorism, passing, among others.
Little White Lie addresses many of the same themes in The Vanishing Half, and will enhance engagement with the book. Organized in collaboration with SURJ Marin and SPAHR Center, and featuring the following amazing panelists:
- Victoria Canby, Interim Executive Director, Museum of the American Indian
- Luz Diaz, youth leader and alumni of San Rafael High
- Laura Gonzalez, Marin County Office of Education
- Dana Hawke, Board Member, Museum of the American Indian
- Anita Gail Jones, visual artist, storyteller, and author
- Jordan Decker, consultant and founder of Trans HeartLine
- Indigo Eatmon, Tamalpais High School student, member of Tam Black Student Union and Marin Organized for Racial Equity (MORE)
