Huge Book Sale

Friends of the San Rafael Libraries will host their annual Huge Book Sale on the downtown library lawn on Saturday, June 25 from 9:00 to 3:30.

You will enjoy browsing among 30 tables of books on all topics with voluptuous collections of large scale art books, cooking, gardening and history, plus classics, poetry, vintage sets, and a plethora of charming children’s books. All this takes place under the shelter of a beautiful deciduous oak tree.

You’ll see old friends from cello lessons and tennis team, your kid’s soccer coach, your long lost high school test cram buddy; it will be old home day!

We know you’ll find great things because that’s what they put in this sale.

Come early for the best selections; tables will be refreshed during the day. Half price starts at 2:30.

Anniversary Book Sale at Friends Books

Friends Books will be having an anniversary sale May 3 through 7 at the downtown store. Open hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 4:00.

This charming book shop is located at 1016  C  Street  between 4th and 5th in downtown San Rafael.  

All Non-Fiction books, including CDs, DVDs and audio books, will be reduced for this sale.

This is the perfect time to find an enticing new book on gardening or cooking for a Mother’s day gift!

Books Beyond Borders

Like reading? Like learning about life in other places and times? We’ve got just the club for you! Join us for our Books Beyond Borders book club in which we’ll travel through time and place to better understand our present world. Each month, read the selected book and then we’ll meet to discuss it and do a fun related craft or writing activity. Occasional special guests will include the book’s author or a visitor from the culture or time we’ve read about. Open to 5th-8th graders.  

May 11th–Leaving Lymon, by Lesa Cline-Ransome

We will be meeting in person outdoors at Pickleweed Park for a special end-of-the-school-year celebration on May 11th–see you there!

Bring a work in progress, your favorite paints and brushes, those cool markers you forgot you had, or borrow some of our supplies! Downtown in the Teen Area every other Wednesday starting June 8. For teens entering 7th grade – 12th grade.

Process Art and Jazz on the Lawn

Join us on the library lawn for an hour of jazz with Dave Rocha and His Trio starting at 1pm with process art for all ages, continuing until 3pm. We’ll provide all the supplies for a creative, musical afternoon.
