Zentangle with Romi Marks

Posted by bonnie on

Romi Marks will be providing online classes via Zoom every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Romi has an art studio degree from Sonoma State and has been practicing the visual arts since childhood. She is a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT), educated by the creators of Zentangle, Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. Romi has been practicing and teaching Zentangle for many years, teaching at San Rafael Public Library since 2017.

Zentangle is a fun, relaxing and easy-to-learn art form that uses repetitive patterns to create beautiful images while improving focus and creativity. This new art form can be enjoyed by anyone, from beginners to professionals, providing artistic satisfaction and personal well being.

In this class you will delve in to the Zentanglemethod while creating a beautiful composition. Learn to draw patterns and use shading and color techniques to bring this Zentangle inspired composition to life. There will be a short guided meditation and lots of step by step instructions. This class is two hours so please plan accordingly. Join the call a few of minutes early so we can all begin on time. As space is limited, be respectful of the library and your fellow students by attending the class you have signed up for. If you sign up show up.

Please register here for the next class.

For beginners, you can pick up a starter kit at the San Rafael Library (1100 E Street). They are $5.00 (cash or check made out to Romi Marks) and contain 3 – 4.5 x 4.5 tiles and one Pigma pen.

In addition to the starter kit, you will need to provide your own colored pencils. Romi recommends purchasing one of these sets online or from your local art store:

Prisma colored pencils, or

Staedtler colored pencils

If you think you’ll be attending many more classes stock up on these supplies online or from your local art store:

Pigma 05 pen

Zentangle Tiles 4.5 x 4.5″

I’m in Virginia and I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed Romi Marks’ Zentangle class on Zoom. She is an awesome teacher and even though I live far away, I was able to learn and enjoy this art form through your library. I certainly hope these classes can continue as they are a blessing to me.
~Donna

I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to take classes with Romi Marks. It’s wonderful to be able to take classes long distance and meet people you would otherwise not know.  During these trying times it’s a godsend when you are not able to leave home. Plus, Romi is a great teacher and a wonderfully generous person Thank you again.
~Mo

So love the Zentangle class offered by the SR library.

Testimonials:

Romi Marks is a fantastic teacher and guide through the meditative art process of Zentangle. When class was held at the San Rafael Library, I enjoyed and learned from each class that I attended. Now on Zoom, the experience is also wonderful. Less crowding and more meditative. Thank you for offering this most valuable class. Romi’s style offers calm and freedom especially in a time of uncertainty.
Susan

Romi is a dynamic Zentangle instructor! This class was the calm in the eye of my chaotic week. Thank you for offering her classes through the library.

Words can never express the joy I get from the Tangled Yogi Zentangle classes your library offers. I draw them on cards and send them out to people who, “need a lift.” Feedback has been very positive. So very many people are having a difficult time right now; every small act of kindness brightens someone’s life for a while. Romi Marks, the Tangled Yogi, is a breath of fresh air! She is very kind, patient, and talented. Thank you again for offering these wonderful classes.
Betsey

[Romi’s class] was the most enjoyable 2+ hours that I have spent on Zoom in a very long time and just what I was searching for as a creative outlet and way to use my stash of colored pencils.  Romi is a wonderful teacher and it’s great to experience how other people express their own creativity, given the same task.
