All Things Apple! is an online class via Zoom.
If you are new to All Things Apple! and would like to get on the contact list for classes, please email Librarian, Javier Morales at:
javier.morales@cityofsanrafael.org
You will then receive an invitation from Beryn and instructions on how to join the class.

Pre-registration is a requisite for each class.
Invitations to register are sent out each THURSDAY morning for the following week’s class, and you must register for each class.

These class topics were put together based on input from students, and while some of these topics have been taught recently, there’s always something new to learn in each. The content of each topic description will be adhered to, but discussion is not limited to just what’s presented in this schedule as one thing often leads to another.

Doors for class will open 15 minutes prior to that class starting and we will start on time. When the class capacity of 100 participants is reached in the live Zoom room, those who get “locked out” will be able to view the class by live streaming it on YouTube. This is called the “Balcony Section.” Those who are registered to participate by half past the hour prior to class starting will receive an email with the link to the live stream. It will be sent out within 15 minutes of the class starting. If you’re viewing the class from the balcony, you will not be able to raise your hand to ask questions but can learn something new nonetheless.

At the end of each class participants can stay for a Q&A session about that or any other topic. Because many people leave at the formal end of class, those who are watching the class from the balcony section will be able to join the live after-class Q&A to have their questions answered. Simply go back to the original link you received to the join the Zoom class and use that to get in.

A recap video of each class will be available so you can review material on YouTube, and you can build your own library of them, but you must participate in that class to receive access to it. Instructions for how to do this are given in the orientation email you received with your welcome packet as well as in the email for the live stream YouTube link sent out before each class starts.

The time shown for all classes is Pacific Time; please adjust accordingly for where you are.

THE UNOFFICIAL START OF SUMMER

Besides its true meaning, Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer. We can wear white shoes (some of you will remember that “rule”), and we can start to read those “beach” novels that we’ve been saving for lazier days. As well, our summer vacation plans are firming up, and the weather is more conducive to being outside, so let’s look at ways to use our Apple devices to maximize these times.

TUESDAY, JUNE 2nd – GETTING READY TO TRAVEL

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Now that we’re traveling to see family and friends, and discovering new parts of the world or revisiting favorite places, let’s get our Apple devices ready to travel with us.

Learn how to keep them safe, what accessories you need so they can function efficiently when we’re away from home, and how to make calls, send texts, and share photos without breaking the bank.

TUESDAY, JUNE 9th – A NEW CLASS ABOUT ONLINE SAFETY

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Billions of dollars are being scammed from seniors, which makes this is a really hot topic. After the success of my presentation for the San Rafael library I’m sharing it with you because we can never learn enough to stay one step ahead of the bad guys. If you’ve seen my Online Safety class before, I encourage you to attend this one too as there’s a lot of new information for you to learn.

TUESDAY, JUNE 16th – CAMERA SETTINGS & PHOTO EDITING BASICS

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Let’s review the basics of using your iPhone’s camera functions so your photos are more interesting and better convey the moment. We’ll also review how to make those photos even better by using a few basic editing techniques that are already built into our devices.

TUESDAY, JUNE 23rd – NOTIFICATIONS & MANAGING PASSWORDS

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Getting too many notifications? Or not enough? Let’s review how to set this important function up so that it’s just right.

We’ll also review how to use the Passwords function that’s already in our Apple devices so your passwords are safely stored and can be retrieved easily, thus keeping you safer online.

TUESDAY, JUNE 30th – NO CLASS THIS WEEK

My policy is that when it’s a 5 week month there will be no class on that fifth week. We all need a bit of a break! Plus, it’s the lead up to the July 4th weekend and many are traveling.
