All Things Apple! is an online class via Zoom.
If you are new to All Things Apple! and would like to get on the contact list for classes, please email Librarian, Javier Morales at:
javier.morales@cityofsanrafael.org
You will then receive an invitation from Beryn and instructions on how to join the class.

Pre-registration is a requisite for each class.
Invitations to register are sent out each THURSDAY morning for the following week’s class, and you must register for each class.

These class topics were put together based on input from students, and while some of these topics have been taught recently, there’s always something new to learn in each. The content of each topic description will be adhered to, but discussion is not limited to just what’s presented in this schedule as one thing often leads to another.

Doors for class will open 15 minutes prior to that class starting and we will start on time. When the class capacity of 100 participants is reached in the live Zoom room, those who get “locked out” will be able to view the class by live streaming it on YouTube. This is called the “Balcony Section.” Those who are registered to participate by half past the hour prior to class starting will receive an email with the link to the live stream. It will be sent out within 15 minutes of the class starting. If you’re viewing the class from the balcony, you will not be able to raise your hand to ask questions but can learn something new nonetheless.

At the end of each class participants can stay for a Q&A session about that or any other topic. Because many people leave at the formal end of class, those who are watching the class from the balcony section will be able to join the live after-class Q&A to have their questions answered. Simply go back to the original link you received to the join the Zoom class and use that to get in.

A recap video of each class will be available so you can review material on YouTube, and you can build your own library of them, but you must participate in that class to receive access to it. Instructions for how to do this are given in the orientation email you received with your welcome packet as well as in the email for the live stream YouTube link sent out before each class starts.

The time shown for all classes is Pacific Time; please adjust accordingly for where you are.

IT’S FINALLY SUMMER

Well, here we are, enjoying warmer weather, visits with grandchildren who are on summer break from school, and perhaps traveling. Sitting in our own garden is good too now that our efforts at assisting and coaxing Mother Nature have come to fruition. Ahhh, if only the uphill neighbor would be finished with their noisy remodel project and the leaf blowers would be quiet for just a few days so we can actually enjoy being outside at home again!

TUESDAY, JULY 7th – ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

What is AI, how can we use it, and how can we be safe when we’re using it.

Learn what the different aspects of AI are, how we can apply this amazing technology to enhance our lives and facilitate our tasks. Learn how to let it support our creativity, and, of course, how to stay safe while using it so our personal information isn’t taken advantage of by the systems.

TUESDAY, JULY 14th – THE NOTES APP – My favorite app of them all

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

This little, innocuous app that sits patiently in all our Apple devices is one of the most versatile and invaluable apps of them all!

Learn how to use it to your best advantage when planning trips, keeping notes to yourself for future reference, draw little sketches, attach images, receipts, and news articles… and more. There isn’t enough time in this class to show you all that it’s capable of doing, but we’ll give it a good try!

TUESDAY, JULY 21st – ACCESSIBILITY

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Let’s review the various ways that our Apple devices make it easier to see and hear and move around our iPhones and Mac computers more easily, especially if you’re impaired visually, with your hearing, or even with your motor functions. We’ll also review some 3rd party apps that support us.

TUESDAY, JULY 28th – FREE FORM AND JOURNAL APPS

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

The Free Form app is a wonderful tool for creating idea boards, travel postcards, and sharing and collaborating with others. Learn how to use it to your best advantage.

The Journal app is an app that does what it says, letting us be creative as we write our thoughts. It also allows us to add photos, maps of places we’ve been, copy and paste content from other sources so we have complete capability to review ideas, and more.
