All Things Apple! is an online class via Zoom.
If you are new to All Things Apple! and would like to get on the contact list for classes, please email Librarian, Javier Morales at:
javier.morales@cityofsanrafael.org
You will then receive an invitation from Beryn and instructions on how to join the class.

Pre-registration is a requisite for each class.
Invitations to register are sent out each THURSDAY morning for the following week’s class, and you must register for each class.

These class topics were put together based on input from students, and while some of these topics have been taught recently, there’s always something new to learn in each. The content of each topic description will be adhered to, but discussion is not limited to just what’s presented in this schedule as one thing often leads to another.

Doors for class will open 15 minutes prior to that class starting and we will start on time. When the class capacity of 100 participants is reached in the live Zoom room, those who get “locked out” will be able to view the class by live streaming it on YouTube. This is called the “Balcony Section.” Those who are registered to participate by half past the hour prior to class starting will receive an email with the link to the live stream. It will be sent out within 15 minutes of the class starting. If you’re viewing the class from the balcony, you will not be able to raise your hand to ask questions but can learn something new nonetheless.

At the end of each class participants can stay for a Q&A session about that or any other topic. Because many people leave at the formal end of class, those who are watching the class from the balcony section will be able to join the live after-class Q&A to have their questions answered. Simply go back to the original link you received to the join the Zoom class and use that to get in.

A recap video of each class will be available so you can review material on YouTube, and you can build your own library of them, but you must participate in that class to receive access to the recap video. Instructions for how to do this are given in the orientation email you received with your welcome packet as well as in the email for the live stream YouTube link sent out before each class starts.

The time shown for all classes is Pacific Time; please adjust accordingly for where you are.

DEEP INTO SUMMER NOW

Some of us have endured an unusually warm summer, others a wetter than normal season, and others, like Goldilocks, “just right” summer weather. Whatever the climate, it’s nothing that we can control, so we might as well make the most of it! Sit back, read a good book, travel somewhere new, and if not new, see old friends and family. Soon enough we’ll be complaining about how cold the winter is and how our old bones can forecast the rain and snow!

TUESDAY, AUGUST 4th   – OUR DIGITAL LEGACY

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

This seems to be a hot topic right now as many of you have requested it and it’s been in the news lately. So we’ll review what’s involved in making sure that you’ve set up your online accounts and digital materials to be transferred, closed or whatever else you want done with them.

TUESDAY, AUGUST  11th   – ORGANIZING OUR “STUFF”

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Another hot topic that’s been requested multiple times. And, to make sure that the stuff we want handled properly with our Digital Legacy is well organized so others can manage it easily, we’ll review what’s entailed in doing this job now.

Instead of a deep dive, we’ll have an overview of organizing the computer with folders, Safari bookmarks, Apple’s Music app library, email boxes, and the Notes app. We will NOT be reviewing any 3rd party apps that contain your information, but the same principles of organization will probably apply to them as well.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 18th  – TIPS & TRICKS + OPEN DISCUSSION

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

A favorite class of many students where we review some nifty ways to use our Apple devices more efficiently,

We’ll also have an open discussion in which the questions you submit to me beforehand will be answered.

TUESDAY, AUGUST  25th – CONTACTS & CALENDAR APPS

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

A review of these two important apps is always timely so we can stay in touch and be sure to show up when we’re expected to be somewhere.
