Hello teens of San Rafael! Join our weekly Zoom just for you. We want to create a space where you can talk with each other about coronavirus/quarantine stress, get help with distance learning, play games, recommend books/shows/movies …whatever support you need to get through this strange time. The meeting will be facilitated by a library staff person to keep it a safe space, but will be lead by members of our Teen Advisory Board.

Cool the Earth – Adopt a Polar Bear
Got 30 minutes for your kids on Earth Day? Gather your family for the ‘Adopt a Polar Bear’ experience and pledge to fight climate change. Your collective pledges will help restore the arctic habitat, as Cool the Earth will make a donation to adopt a polar bear on your behalf! This program is available from April 22 – May 31. https://cooltheearth.org/adoptapolarbear/
Marin Audubon Society – Junior Birdwatcher
Learn about native birds found in your neighborhood. Of all wildlife, birds are the most abundant and easily seen. Their beauty, song, and ability to fly provide a magical connection to nature, helping our souls to soar. From your yard, porch, balcony or on your walks, while practicing social distancing you can watch birds!
One Tam – Backyard BioBlitz
You can host a kind-of BioBlitz in your backyard, your front yard, off your fire escape—wherever you want. The sky’s the limit! Literally: Track migrating birds outside of your window or on your block and input them into the database or just write them down for your memory. BackYard BioBlitz: See The Parks From Wherever You Are

River Otter Ecology Project
Projects for Children and Great Videos – River otters inhabit every part of our watersheds (rivers, estuaries and ponds/lakes) in Marin. They spend time on land and in the water. Get to know this interesting animal with the River Otter Fact Sheet. Then look at the Projects for Children. We recommended making the Watershed Friend Finger Puppets. Then use your finger puppets to act out the story called Why We All Love Water: A Story. Last, but not least, check out their great video library of otters and other wildlife in Marin or watch an animated video called In Celebration of River Otters.
